The Gungahlin Eagles Colts booked their place in the Grand Final with a 42-20 win over Uni-North Owls Colts in Saturday’s Preliminary Final at Viking Park, and Liam Collett was a deserving Player of the Day in a commanding second-half performance.

The young number nine helped jolt the side into life after a slow start, sparking the attack and putting in a number of big hits on defence as the Eagles took control of the match.
It was a timely response from the Colts, who were eliminated from top spot the week before, falling 29-22 to Tuggeranong Vikings Colts in the Qualification Semi Final. Saturday’s win gave the side a second chance at the Grand Final, and Collett’s contribution played a key part in getting them there.
The Colts now turn their attention back to Tuggeranong Vikings Colts, this time in the Grand Final on August 29 at Viking Park. Tuggeranong holds a 3-1 head-to-head record over the Eagles this season, with Gungahlin’s only win coming in July, setting up a tough final assignment. The Eagles Women’s Premier XV will also play for the title at Viking Park the same day.
