The Gungahlin Eagles ACT Vets Colts Cup are through to the Grand Final after defeating Uni-North Owls Colts 42-20 in Saturday’s Preliminary Final at Viking Park.
It was Gungahlin’s second shot at a Grand Final berth this finals series, after falling 29-22 to Tuggeranong Vikings Colts in the Qualification Semi Final the week before. The Colts made the most of their double chance, working back from behind before a tightened second-half defence — conceding just one further, unconverted try — closed out the win over Uni-North Owls.
The result sends the Colts through to the Grand Final on Saturday 29 August at Viking Park, where they are set to meet Tuggeranong Vikings Colts, who went straight through to the decider after winning the Qualification Semi Final. It shapes as a big day for the club, with the Eagles Women’s Premier XV also playing in their Grand Final at Viking Park the same day.
