A hard fought Anzac Day at The Nest against the Tuggeranong Vikings. The Eagles showed plenty of fight across all grades on a special occasion, with the 4th Grade delivering a standout result to end the day on a high. A bye in Round 4 gives the squad time to regroup before we go again in Round 5 against Wests.
Here’s how every grade finished on Saturday 25 April at Nicholls Oval.
1ST GRADE — EAGLES 29, VIKINGS 50
A tough one for the 1s on Anzac Day. The Vikings proved too strong on the day, running out 50–29 winners, but the Eagles kept fighting until the final whistle and will take plenty of learnings into the bye week.
PREMIER WOMEN — EAGLES 12, VIKINGS 22
The Premier Women pushed hard against a strong Vikings outfit but couldn’t quite get over the line, going down 22–12. Two rounds of wins to open the season showed what this group is capable of, and they’ll be hungry to bounce back in Round 5.
2ND GRADE — EAGLES 14, VIKINGS 54
A tough afternoon for the 2s against a powerful Vikings side. The scoreline doesn’t reflect the effort on the park — the group will dust themselves off and come back stronger after the bye.
COLTS — EAGLES 40, VIKINGS 42
Now that was a contest. The Colts pushed the Vikings right to the wire in an incredible 42–40 result, falling just two points short in what was one of the games of the round. This group is building beautifully and that performance will give them enormous confidence heading into Round 5.
3RD GRADE — EAGLES 21, VIKINGS 40
The 3rd Grade battled hard against a quality Vikings outfit, going down 40–21 in a physical contest. Plenty of heart shown from the boys throughout the game.
4TH GRADE — EAGLES 22, VIKINGS 10
The standout result of the day. The 4th Grade delivered a brilliant 22–10 victory over the Vikings — a well-deserved win that gave the whole club a massive lift on Anzac Day. Well done boys, you ripper!
WE GO AGAIN IN ROUND 5
Round 4 is a bye, giving all grades a well-earned break and a chance to regroup, recover, and prepare. The Eagles will be back and raring to go in Round 5 against Wests. Get down and support the green and gold.
