ROUND 3 PREVIEW: MILESTONES, CAPTAINS, AND A DATE WITH THE VIKINGS AT THE NEST
It’s shaping up to be one of the most special rounds of the 2026 season at Nicholls Oval this Saturday. Three milestone men, two determined captains, and one shared mission — beat the Vikings on home turf.
THE CAPTAINS SPEAK
Acting 1st Grade captain Sam Hyland is backing the Eagles to go one better after two agonising near-misses to open the season. The key, he says, is staying in the fight for the full 80 minutes and cutting out the costly lapses that have hurt them in Rounds 1 and 2. This week also sees Cooper O’Connor earn his debut on the wing.
Over in the Premier Women’s camp, captain Amy Rebeca has her side undefeated through two rounds and is focused on one thing — defending The Nest. “We have a rule to defend The Nest. We really want to win this one.”

THREE EAGLES HIT 50
This Saturday, Lachlan O’Malley, Charlie Carey, and Cole Taylor will each run out for their 50th game for the Gungahlin Eagles — all on the same day, all against the Vikings at The Nest. For all three, the club is more than just a footy team. It’s a family. And there’s only one way they want to celebrate — with a win.
