CONGRATULATIONS CHARLIE CAREY: 50 GAMES FOR GUNGAHLIN EAGLES
There are players who wear a jersey, and then there are players who live it. Charlie Carey is very much the latter.
On Friday night at Nicholls Oval, Charlie ran out for his 50th grade game in the red and black of the Gungahlin Eagles — a milestone that means everything when you consider just how deep his roots at this club run.
BORN INTO THE EAGLES FAMILY
Charlie’s story with the Gungahlin Eagles didn’t start when he first pulled on the jersey. It started long before that — as a young kid running around The Nest, watching his dad and the club he loved from the sideline. He progressed through the Eagles Juniors, Daramalan Rugby, and the Colts pathway before making the step up to grade footy, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Fifty games later, CJ is exactly where he belongs.
THE HEARTBEAT OF THE 3RD GRADE BACKLINE
Over the past few seasons Charlie has become an integral part of the 3rd Grade backline — and it’s not hard to see why. An inside back with silky ball skills, a sharp rugby brain, and an ability to communicate and direct play, Charlie is the connection between backs and forwards that every team needs.
He doesn’t just play the game — he understands it. He reads the park, organises those around him, and makes the team better every time he steps over the white line.
MORE THAN JUST A FOOTBALLER
What makes Charlie’s milestone even more special is what he gives to the Eagles beyond match day. He’s always there to help around the club, always there to support his teammates, and always there with a smile that reminds everyone why they love being part of this place.
That’s what being a great club man looks like. And Charlie Carey is exactly that.
