The Gungahlin Eagles ACT Vets Colts Cup are not done yet. After falling 29-22 to Tuggeranong Vikings Colts in last week’s Qualification Semi Final, the Eagles retain a double chance and now play for a Grand Final berth in the Preliminary Final against Uni-North Owls Colts, Saturday 22 August, 9:00am at Viking Park.
The Colts finished the regular season in second spot on the ladder, winning nine of twelve matches for a +88 points differential, and closed out the year with four straight wins, including a 21-14 win over Queanbeyan Whites Colts in Round 17. That form carried into finals week, even though it wasn’t enough in the semi-final — tries to Bradley Patmore and a double to Jezaiah Sega weren’t enough to get past the ladder-topping Vikings, who now hold a 3-1 head-to-head edge across four meetings this season.
Saturday’s Preliminary Final is a straight knockout for a place in the Grand Final on 29 August at Viking Park, where the Eagles Women’s Premier XV have already booked their spot.
