Two Standout Performances: Round 5 Players of the Match vs Wests

Round 5 against Wests produced two standout individual performances across the men’s and women’s grades. Congratulations to Campbell Marris and Amy Maka, our Round 5 Players of the Match.

CAMPBELL MARRIS – MEN’S PALYER OF THE MATCH

Campbell’s Round 5 started with an outstanding performance in 3rd Grade, a full game that set the tone for what was to come. When the late call came for injury cover in 2nd Grade, Campbell pulled his boots back on and delivered again for almost another full game.

Two grades. Two strong performances. One day. That is the kind of availability and attitude that makes a squad function.

What makes this recognition even more fitting is that Campbell’s contribution to the Gungahlin Eagles goes beyond what he does on the field. He is also a key member of the 1st Grade physio team, providing strapping and on-field support for the boys week in, week out. He gives time and effort to this club in multiple roles, and this award is a well-deserved acknowledgement of that.

AMY MAKA – WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE MATCH

In her debut game for the Gungahlin Eagles, Amy Maka set an immediate standard against a tough Wests side, the reigning premiers.

It was a fast and physical match, and Amy met that challenge head on. She won collisions, gained metres with ball in hand, worked hard at the breakdown, and gave the team a consistent platform to score from. For a debut performance against a side of that calibre, it was exactly what the Eagles ask of their players.

If Round 5 is any indication, Amy Maka is going to be a real asset to this group throughout the 2026 season.
