3s go down in narrow loss to Royals

It was another close loss for the T3 boys who haven’t managed to claim a win this season. Coming up against a Royals outfit that was much stronger than previous years, we knew it would be a battle to the final minute.

Our set piece was dominant with the return of James Needham to the team bolstering our scrum and lineout. We found attacking field position on the back of some pinpoint kicking from Tom Scott, leading to the first try for Leigh Hancock who steered our maul over the line.

Royals came back fighting, but the Eagles looked on top of the game after Kane Broadrick busted through the line late in the 2nd half to give us a 14-12 lead. Our defence held strong until Royals found an old1st-grade combination that led to late try out wide, claiming the win over the Eagles.

It was a game that could have gone either way, but there was an agreement between the coaches and players that we need to be more convincing. We will look to rebuild over the next week and come out firing against Young at home.

Final score: Royals Def. Eagles 17-14
