Eagles on the hunt for new major sponsor

After a fruitful six-year partnership, the Gungahlin Eagles will no longer feature Canberra Toyota on the Premier Rugby jerseys worn by our men and women’s teams.

The car industry is experiencing some horrendous supply chain issues worldwide and Canberra Toyota Is among those affected being a large top 20 retailer in Australia. The good news, however, is that Canberra Toyota will continue to support the Eagles as a red-level sponsor!

Canberra Toyota has been a loyal and generous partner of the Eagles, and is a great case study for successful sponsorship with the club, opening business streams through association and access to the Eagles network.

Gungahlin Eagles President Eoghan O’Byrne says that whilst it’s a big loss for the Eagles, the major sponsorship ends on tremendous terms with Canberra Toyota and now a big opportunity is presented to the club, opening business streams through association and access to the Eagles network.

2023 is shaping up to be an exiting year for the Eagles, with the addition of Locky McCaffrey and Matt Giteau to our coaching lineup, Matt Hawke’s 200th 1st Grade game, our 50-year anniversary of Premier rugby, the 20-year reunion of the ’03 1st Grade Premiership, and a Rugby World Cup!

Gungahlin Eagles President Eoghan O’Byrne says that whilst it’s a big change for the Eagles, the major sponsorship ends on tremendous terms with Canberra Toyota and now a big opportunity is presented to the club.

“First of all, I’d like to thank Mirko and his team at Canberra Toyota for their support since 2017”

“Our club has transformed in this time and it’s thanks to our sponsors we’ve been able
to do so”

“Now is when the club’s leadership rolls up our sleeves and launch our search to identify a
new front of jersey sponsor, and we’re confident that a suitable company looking to align
themselves with the Eagles brand will present itself”

“We have a great offering for our sponsors including access to our extensive network,
branding opportunities on kit, gamedays, and events, and of course through our hyper-local web
presence and social media channels”

“We’ll aim to have a new partner within the coming months, and we look forward to
working through that and making an announcement in due course”
