Welcome to the Eagles family, Robbie Coleman

With a focus on player development, the Eagles Academy, and continuous improvement of our high-performance program, Robbie Coleman will join the Eagles for our 2024 campaign.

The club welcomes Robbie with open arms, who is known to the Canberra rugby community as a tremendous person with immense rugby experience as a coach and player.

Eagles Head Coach Locky McCaffrey says this is a great step toward continuous improvement for our rugby program.

“I’m particularly excited to have Robbie join our rugby program. He’s a good friend of mine, a really good person and he really cares about the game and developing people within it”

“I know the Eagles Family will embrace him with open arms and hopefully we can use his skills and experience to continue to grow as a club next season”

Coleman will join the Eagles Family as 1st Grade Assistant Coach and will be one of many great coaches within the Gungahlin Eagles Academy for U18s-U20s players.

Just some of Robbie’s achievements in his career include:

  • Australian U20’s, Australian U20’s Player of the Year, and IRB runner-up World Player of the Year (2009 & 2010)
  • Commonwealth Games Silver Medal – Australian Rugby 7s (2010)
  • 87 Super Rugby Brumbies Games (2010-2016)
  • 5 Super Rugby Western Force Games (2017)
  • Contracted to Narbon, France Pro D2 and Nola Gold, Major League Rugby (2018-2022)

The Gungahlin Eagles Board are currently finalising all other coaching positions for 2024, and look forward to announcing those people and our preseason plans in due course.

If you’re interested in joining the Eagles as a player, volunteer, sponsor or supporter, you can drop us a line on social media or reach out to someone within the club to start a conversation.
