U20s Academy in full swing

The Gungahlin Eagles U20s academy is a new pathway for players looking to develop from U18s into senior rugby, with tailored rugby, gym and nutrition programs.

Club legend Stuart Crew has been appointed Head Coach of the Academy and will provide players with the tools required to lay the foundations for their senior rugby career.

Within a few months of its induction, the Academy already has an extensive network available to those coming through the ranks.

Physical testing has been conducted on the players, and they’re now into a regular preseason routine with additional sessions and one-on-one nutrition coaching.

Individual assessments will be conducted regularly throughout the year, and constant feedback will be provided to players.

Crew is excited for what the Academy will do for the brand new Eagles players, and hopes to ensure a smooth transition into senior footy.

“I’m thrilled that the club has given me the chance to work with our next generation, they’re so important to the future success of the club so I see it as a great responsibility,”

“My priority is ensuring the new players have a single point of contact as they start their rugby careers, it can be a difficult landscape to navigate and we want to make it enjoyable for them,”

“I’ll be asking them to set and achieve goals throughout the season and form the habits of success while retaining them within the Gungahlin Eagles family.”
